Thanks for the opportunity to write a review of the Navy Bistro. The view of Toledo across the river is really quite lovely, especially at night. As well, the restaurant designers did a very careful job with the lighting and with the decor generally. Sadly, though, the food does not live up to the space; the quality/value equation does not compute.
It is shameful that an appetizer order of calamari costing nearly $10 ahould be so small as to take up just 1/2 of a bread-size plate. The crab cakes were tasteless and soggy; my guess is that these were not made in the kitchen but in some sort of industrial commissary.
A nearly $9 hamburger really ought to come with french fries that did not come to the restaurant frozen.
Overall, my sense of the place is that it sells atmosphere; apparently that is sufficient for some customers. I, however, am not among them, and will not be coming back.
